Edward W. Claxton

Biography

Edward W. (Ted) Claxton was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1979. His practice experience includes civil, criminal, matrimonial, and estate litigation matters. He has represented clients in the Ontario Court of Appeal on both criminal and civil appeals. Mr. Claxton is a member of The Law Society of Ontario and the Waterloo Law Association.

Teaching Experience

Mr. Claxton has taught litigation procedures for law clerks and secretaries for the Law Clerks Institute at Conestoga College. He has taught Law Clerks at triOS College. He is currently an instructor in the Paralegal program offered at triOS College.

Publications and Editing

Edward Claxton is a former Student Editor of the Ottawa Law Review, and editorial assistant to Prof. Jodouin, Revue Générale de Droit, L’Université D’Ottawa. He has also acted as Compiling Editor for Carswell Legal Publications, Canadian Encyclopedia Digest, Ontario Court Practice Volume. He has provided editorial and publication review for Emond Publishing. He has published articles in the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Chitty’s Law Journal, and the Esprit de Corps military magazine. He is co-author, with Hon. Roger E. Salhany, QC of the Practical Guide to Evidence and Proof in Criminal Cases, 9th edition 2021.

Community involvement

Mr. Claxton is active in leadership roles with Central Escarpment Council of Scouts Canada.
